Renting a car in Belgrade during winter is easy — but the road conditions on trips to Zlatibor, Kopaonik or the Bosnian border demand a properly equipped vehicle.
Winter tires are legally required in Serbia from 1 November to 1 April on all snow-covered roads. Every Rent a Car M vehicle is fitted with M+S winter tires during this period — included in the price at no extra cost.
Snow chains — required on many mountain roads (Kopaonik, Zlatibor, Tara passes). We supply chains free of charge on request. Ask us at booking so we can pre-install them in the trunk.
AWD or FWD? For pure Belgrade city driving, a front-wheel-drive compact is enough. For ski trips to Kopaonik or Jahorina we recommend the Dacia Duster 4x4 or Hyundai Tucson AWD.
Fuel and defrosting: keep the tank above 1/4 in winter — cold morning starts eat more fuel and running out of fuel while stuck on a mountain road is dangerous. All our cars have working heated rear windows and defrosting systems.
